Vagal schwannoma

Dysphagia and sense of incomplete swallowing and abnormal barium swallow

Patient Data

Age: 25 years old
Gender: Male

A rounded, regular, well defined, encapsulated soft tissue mass is seen at the left carotid space. it is inseparable from the deep lobe of the left parotid gland, displaces the parapharyngeal space medially and carotid vessel posteriorly. It exhibits low T1, bright T2/STIR signal with patchy moderate enhancement after contrast administration.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent surgical resection and the lesions was removed and the pathological report proved schwannoma of the vagus nerve.
