TURP defect

Case contributed by Dr Matt A. Morgan

Presentation

History of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Imaging for an unrelated issue.

Patient Data

Gender: Male
Fluoroscopy

Retrograde urethrogram (RUG) and voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG)

Two retrograde urethrograms (RUG) on the same patient, the second with a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG), show an irregular defect in the region of the prostatic urethra, compatible with the patients history of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).

CT

CT of the abdomen and pelvis with delayed imaging shows a midline defect in the prostate compatible with a TURP defect. A 3D reconstruction shows the gap in the prostatic urethra to good effect.

MRI

Midline defect in the prostate, compatible with a TURP defect.
