Presentation

Back pain.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
MRI

MRI shows an extradural rounded lesion, isointense in T1 and hyperintense in T2,  which protrudes out of the left neural exit foramen, forming a dumbbell-shaped mass at L4 level. It enhances homogeneously after contrast administration. 

Case Discussion

Spinal schwannomas are the most common intradural extramedullary spinal tumor. 

Surgery is the treatment of choice.
