Bone scan - 153Sm-EDTMP (Samarium)

Multiple areas of hyperactivity mainly in axial skeleton (metastases) in a patient with known prostate cancer.

Case Discussion

Prostate cancer with bone pain due to metastases. Patient underwent 153Sm-EDTMP (Samarium), which is a gamma and beta emitting isotope.

Whole body scan shows multiple areas of hyperactivity in axial skeleton, compatible with prostate cancer metastases. Two weeks after the administration of the radiopharmaceutical the pain decreased steadily.
