Incomplete torsion of testis with high resistance to-and-fro flow

Case contributed by Dr Kewal Arunkumar Mistry

Presented with left sided scrotal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 19 years
Gender: Male

Greyscale and color Doppler ultrasound shows a mildly heterogenous left testis with reduced color flow, a bulky and congested epididymis, and a mild hydrocele .

Spectral Doppler shows high resistance flow in left testis with diastolic reversal, while the right testis shows normal low resistance flow.

Case Discussion

Incomplete torsion may result in altered testicular flow pattern including high resistance index (>0.75) or to-and-fro flow.
