Congenital lobar overinflation

Respiratory distress

Patient Data

Age: Neonate
Gender: Male

There is hyperinflation and increased lucency of left lung upper lobe with herniation across midline and contralateral trachea-mediastinal shift.
No pneumothorax.
Rest of the lung fields are normal.
No pleural effusion or pneumothorax.

Case Discussion

Left lung upper lobe is the most common lobe involved by the congenital lobar overinflation (also called congenital lobar emphysema).
