Cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy

A gestational sac with a fetal pole was seen at the site of previous C-section scar. A fetal pole with normal cardiac activity was seen with a CRL of 17.9mm = 8 weeks and 2 days. The cervix was closed and normal.
Well defined mixed echogenic collection was seen anterior to the ectopic pregnancy and showed no vascularity within it, in keeping with a hematoma.
Intrauterine pseudo gestational sac was also noted.
A patient with a history of 1 previous C-section presented to radiology department for investigation of per vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy with associated lower abdominal pain. Sonography done concluded an inevitable abortion. The patient was referred to our department for a second opinion.
Cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy is considered one of the most rare type of ectopic pregnancy.
