Perineural tumor spread is a form of metastatic disease in which primary tumors cells spread along the tissues of the nerve sheath, being a well recognized phenomenon in head and neck cancers. 

It is more frequently associated with carcinomas arising from salivary glands as the adenoid cystic carcinoma, but also with mucosal or cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas, basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, lymphoma, and sarcoma 1-2
